Washington state legislators from Island County will visit with their constituents during a town hall-style meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20.
Hosted in the Whidbey Telecom conference room in Freeland, near the WiFire Coffee Bar, state Sen. Barbara Bailey, Rep. Norma Smith and Rep. Dave Hayes will all be in attendance.
This rare meeting during a legislative session will give people a chance to speak with their representatives. Each legislator will get 10 minutes to discuss what they’re focusing on in Olympia, then the rest of the hour will be for questions from the crowd. There will also be a small table period for people to speak in a more informal setting with the lawmakers.
One of the main issues for the state Legislature is fulfilling the state Supreme Court mandate to fully fund K-12 education.
