Langley resident Kathleen Waters has been appointed to serve on the Planning Advisory Board.

Mayor Larry Kwarsick appointed Waters to fill the open position for an alternate and his decision was confirmed by unanimous vote of the City Council on Monday at City Hall.

Kwarsick said Waters has involved herself in the community and believes she will add an important voice to the advisory board.

“Kathleen is an outspoken person who will make her opinions known,” Kwarsick told the council. “I think outcomes of the PAB will be stronger for it.”

The planning board is a five-member volunteer group that makes recommendations to the council on land use related activities. Its responsibilities extend to both quasi-judicial actions and legislative work.

Langley residents Mary Jo McArdle and Jeanine Carlson also applied for the position. All three candidates were interviewed by Kwarsick before he made his decision.
