Whidbey General Hospital and Island Athletic Club are teaming up to promote community wellness by offering low-cost, “Heartwise” cholesterol/triglyceride/blood sugar screenings.

Heartwise screenings will be offered Wednesday, Sept. 30, Thursday, Oct. 1, Wednesday, Oct. 7 and Thursday, Oct. 8 at Island Athletic Club in Freeland.

The cost is $80, open to the public and includes: Total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, fasting blood sugar, blood pressure, heart rate and body mass index. A blood sample is obtained from a finger stick and you’ll know your results in 10 minutes. Results are immediately discussed with a registered nurse.

If you are a woman living on Whidbey or a man living in Coupeville or Greenbank with financial challenges, the screening is free thanks to the Whidbey Island Soroptimists and Lions Clubs grants.
