Whidbey Island Conservation District cooperators and partners were recognized for their land stewardship and support on Tuesday, April 8, at the Coupeville Library.

Whidbey Island Conservation District cooperators and partners were recognized for their land stewardship and support on Tuesday, April 8, at the Coupeville Library.

Patricia and Mike Miller were honored with the Outstanding Cooperator award for their work restoring a Christmas tree farm in Oak Harbor. Anza Muenchow and Marc Wilson were awarded the Everell “Duke” LeBaron Land Steward award for the management of their farm and forest. Robert Mackie won the Outstanding Homeowner award for the installation of an alternative stormwater system to alleviate flooding in his home. The Deer Lagoon Grange received the Outstanding Partner award for the many classes open to the public.

Stu Trefry, regional manager for the Northwest Washington Conservation Districts for the Washington Conservation Commission, won the Outstanding Supporter Award for guiding the conservation district in developing a funding base for residents.

Award recipients were presented with a plaque honoring their achievements.
