The 2016 Whidbey Cup Regatta is this afternoon and continues into Sunday, June 12 on Lone Lake.
Sailers will arrive at 11 a.m. today for set up; racing begins at 1 p.m. Set up on Sunday begins at 9 a.m., with the racing kick off at 10:30 a.m. Awards will be handed out at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Racing spots are filled, but the public is invited to attend.
There will be 15 boats on the water, divided into groups according to speed capabilities, such as a fast and Pelican class. The fast boats, such as Lasers, are set to race first.
This year’s participants are all Whidbey islanders, said Bob Rodgers, commodore of South Whidbey Yacht Club.
The regatta is put on by the South Whidbey Yacht Club.
The Lone Lake launch ramp is located on the south end of Lone Lake Road.
