High winds caused power outages throughout Central and South Whidbey Island Thursday morning.
East Harbor Road was closed early Thursday morning when a large alder tree fell across it. The road was closed with barriers between Goss Lake and Brainier roads, and one man decided not to risk driving under the opening left when the lines stopped the tree from completely falling.
High winds in the early morning hours caused isolated power outages from South Whidbey to Coupeville. Bakken, Christian Roads on Central Whidbey were closed this morning due to power lines down and the power went out in the Admirals Cove area from 4:30 a.m to 5:50 a.m.
Whidbey Island Naval Air Station measured the steady winds as high as 34 miles per hour early Thursday.
