The South Whidbey Record is launching a new column today, written by two students at South Whidbey High School.

Kelsi Lindus and Bill Harper will write a topical column called “Between Classes.” Their inaugural column appears on Page A7, and will run in Saturday editions of The Record.

Lindus said they were excited about getting experience in the newspaper business.

“We also just want to give the community a little bit of insight into our perspective,” she said.

“Hopefully, we’ll touch concepts that will make people consider something they wouldn’t typically consider; introduce a new idea that might intrigue them,” Harper added.

Both students are seniors at the high school. Lindus is a member of the Falcons tennis team, and is interested in history, philosophy and poetry. Harper is a licensed pilot and plans to attend Willamette University in the fall.

“I’m thrilled that with Kelsi’s and Bill’s help, The Record we will be able to offer readers a fresh perspective and add new voices to our pages,” said Record editor Brian Kelly.
