Audrey M. Gentz, 85, died Nov. 6, 2003.
She was born June 1, 1918, in St. Paul, Minn., to Christian William and Florence Williams Larson, and grew up in St. Paul. In 1940 she graduated from Carleton College, Northfield, Minn. She married Robert S. Gentz June 13, 1942. They lived in northwest Indiana and raised their family there. They moved to Whidbey Island in 1988, where they enjoyed the scenic beauty of the island, Saratoga Passage and the Cascade Mountains.
Mrs. Gentz enjoyed people and the sensory part of life as an artist, naturalist, and a protector of animals, finding homes for many abandoned pets. Her family and friends will miss her.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 11, 1999.
She is survived by a daughter, Christen Lubinski and her husband, Jerry, of Clinton; and a son, Robert B. Gentz and his wife, Carol, of Langley.
Visser Funeral Home, Langley, was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in Bayview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Whidbey Animals’ Improvement Foundation or a charity of choice.
