After a lengthy illness, Betty Louise (Orr) Clark of Freeland passed away on Feb. 5, 2009.
She was born in Angola, Ind. on Feb. 21, 1923, as Bettie Louise, to William and Anne Orr, the only daughter in the midst of four brothers.
She met and married the love of her life, George, in 1943, in St. Louis, Mo., and became Betty Clark. On
Jan. 8, they celebrated their 66th anniversary.
She is survived by her loving family; husband, George, three daughters, Judy, Nancy and Kimberly, two sons, Michael and William, and youngest brother, David Orr. Ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter will carry on her extended family, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins across the country.
Betty will be remembered for many reasons: her love of family, and her love of all children, her sense of humor, her delight in her gardens and the birds who gathered there. She thought nothing of whipping up 20 pies for a church dinner, or having
35 friends for dinner. She was passionate about her quilting, but her greatest quilt was the one she patched together of family and friends, far and wide, held together with threads of love and caring, gathered into her arms over the years of her life. She will be sorely missed by the many who crossed her path in both small and great ways.
Her memorial service will be on her birthday, at 2 p.m. Feb. 21 at Langley Christian Missionary Alliance Church, in Langley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Friends of Home Health and Hospice Care, Whidbey General Hospital.
