Beverly Frances (Henske) Walker was born June 22, 1940, in Saginaw, Michigan to Clarence and Myrtle Henske. Bev passed away in Grand Rapids, MI on April 7, 2022. She was 81.
Bev lived in Michigan until 1982 when she moved to California settling in the Los Angeles area. It was at this time that Bev met her life-long friend Kathe Rodgers. Bev and Kathe became fast friends, bonding through their property management careers and general life experiences.
In 2003 Bev and Kathe made the move to Whidbey Island as part of their retirement plan. Sharing property near Bush Point, they enjoyed the casual lifestyle of Whidbey. Both ferocious pet lovers, they “adopted” a number of wonderful canines and felines over the years giving them shelter and love as well as taking care of their ailments. Well-known and loved within the Pet Care Community on Whidbey, Bev truly had the ability to whisper to any creature be it feathered or furred. Dogs, cats and ducks were all especially lucky when placed in the care of Bev during heir owner’s absence.
Bev was loving Mom to two children, Brenda Walker Toohey (Rick) and Brad Walker whom she shared with ex-husband Bud Walker. Bev was also blessed with 6 grandchildren: Jessica Toohey Hughes (Shawn), Devin Toohey (Kaylynn), Nicole Walker, Dathan Walker, Taden Walker, and Haley Walker. And most recently two beloved great grandchildren: Liberty Toohey and Kam Wilson.
Bev is survived by her sister Jackie and her brother Carl, as well as the many friends that were fortunate to have known and loved her. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Janet.
donations in Bev’s memory can be made to Waif on Whidbey. A local celebration of Bev’s life is planned for this summer.
