On November 18, 2021, Caleb Charles Spears fell asleep in death peacefully in Freeland, on Whidbey Island, Washington. He was born on April 11, 2002 to his Father Charles Aaron Spears, and his Mother Shannon Lynn Lawson. He is survived by his Grandparents Grannie Annie, Charles and Elizabeth Spears. Stepfather Troy Nelson, Stepmother Catherine Spears. Brothers: Troy T. Nelson, Isaac Spears, Luke Brown, and Jonah Nelson. Aunts and Uncles: Sean Lawson, Aimee-jo Brown, Amber Wishart, and Abby Spears. Cousins: Addi Hatch, Aden Lucas, Ariez Lawson, Asia Hantz, Jayden Sorensen, Lainey Wishart, and Tyler Lawson. Many Great Aunts and Uncles and numerous 2nd and 3rd cousins — all of whom he left far too soon at the age of 19. He graduated class of 2020 from South Whidbey High School, where he never met a stranger.
Caleb had many interests and never found a hobby he wasn’t good at, such as reading, saxophone, singing, playing kazoo, and many others. He got his fine craftsmanship skills from his father and his love for animals from his mother. Not only did he care so deeply for animals, but for all the people he met. If you were one of these people privileged enough to have known Caleb, you would remember how caring and kind he was. Anytime spent with him was a gift. He loved to laugh but loved making other people laugh even more. His empathy and humor are a few of his many qualities that will be missed. Caleb was a jack of all trades whose aspirations in life were many, all of which he excelled at. His family was always surprised by his ability to be so good at any trade he picked up. Helping people was something that came easy to him and he will continue to help people despite his passing.
Through his memory, he’ll always remind us to enjoy life and the people we meet along the way.
