Carol Margaret Buck, 68, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Dec. 30. Carol was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., on Jan. 22, 1948, and spent her childhood in Miami, Fla.
She met her husband of 49 years, retired U.S. Army Captain Gary Buck, at Homestead AFB, Fla. in 1967, and lived in various parts of the country, eventually settling to Whidbey Island in 1988.
Carol spent years serving as a caseworker for the American Red Cross, and locally as a volunteer with Good Cheer. She also served as bookkeeper for the Island County Fair and Holmes Harbor Rod and Gun Club.
Carol is survived by her loving husband Captain Gary Buck; son and daughter-in-law Nathan Buck and Karyle Kramer; son and daughter-In-law Adam and Tiffany Buck; and her beloved grandchildren Levi Buck, Ranger Buck, Austin Buck, Pearl Buck, and Ruby Buck.
Carol had a passion for baking and always said “just pick a recipe and double the measure of the best ingredient.” Those who knew Carol knew she doubled down on every opportunity to love her family and was a true friend to many. She will always be remembered for living life to the fullest and caring for those she loved first and foremost.
Carol’s family requests that any donations be made to WAIF in Coupeville, where she found so many of her favorite friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15 at the Deer Lagoon Grange. Stop by anytime to remember Carol in the presence of her friends and family.
