Catherine Shannon Crabill, 91, died Dec. 29, 2002.
She was born May 23, 1911, in Lexington, Neb. She married John W. Crabill June 11, 1935. The couple moved to the Seattle area in 1942, and to Whidbey Island in 1979.
Mrs. Crabill was John’s “household engineer” for 64 years. The couple had four children. They were members of the Mountaineers and the Snoqualmie Lodge. They traveled through 46 states on car camping trips, and in their 80s visited their granddaughter in Holland.
Mrs. Crabill enjoyed gardening, needlecrafts, bird and ship watching, playing the piano and old Mid-western-style cooking.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1999, by a son, Duane, in infancy in 1936, and daughter Phyllis Catherine in 1949.
She is survived by a son Ted of Whidbey Island; daughter Carollee of Des Moines; daughter-in-law Nan of Issaquah; and granddaughter Phyllis Dorst and her husband, Leo, of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 4, at Mrs. Crabill’s former residence, 668 E. Windmill Drive, Freeland.
