Tuesday February 15, 2022, Charles Barnet Morrison passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Born November 8, 1936 in Fairfax OK, to George and Isabel Morrison, Charly and his family moved to Washington State when he was a teenager. He would leave the Yakima Valley in 1954 to join the Navy.
While stationed at Barbers Pt Hawaii, Daddy would meet his soul mate and Forever Love, Gladys Palakiko. It was at that time that Mommy and Daddy would begin a journey that would include a lifetime of Love, Family, Fishing, Gardening and memories no ink can satisfy.
After stops in California and Texas the Navy sent Charly to NAS Whidbey Island in February 1972. He and Mommy would endure the 9-10 month deployments just to keep his Family here in Oak Harbor. They continued living here to see their Great Grand Children play in the same yard their children played in.
After a 30yr career, Charly would retire from the Navy in May 1984 as Master Chief Aviation Electrician. He would continue working for the Government by taking on a few contractor jobs on NAS Whidbey as well as in California. He also worked as a mechanic and Tow Truck Dirver at the Midway Shell Station.
It was after this that Mommy and Daddy finally retired completely and took on the roles of Gramma and Grampa full time.
An avid fisherman, Daddy loved taking his friends and Grand kids fishing. He would spend hours readying the boat and tackle to spend time in the dark, rain and rare sunshine with them. His favorite fishing partner was Mommy. Countless mornings loading the boat and going out just to hear that “she outfished me again..”. But he was always there to reel them in for her. Including the 60lb king they caught in, “the hole” in Deception Pass.
Camping and Fishing trips were always a part of our springs and summers growing up. And even more so once the grand babies came along.
Aside from being an excellent Fisherman and Electrician, Daddy was also an amazing, Mechanic, Gardner, Craftsman, Coach and Cribbage player.
But he mostly excelled at being our Dad and Friend. Always there to help us with anything we might need. Or just to listen to us when we needed someone to hear us.
His love for his family is eternal. His deep tenor voice and sparkling eyes and smile will be missed for just as long.
Daddy was met at the Gates by his Parents, George and Isabele Morrison. His daughter in law, Pamillia Faye. And is now eternally holding in his arms his forever love, Mommy.
Continuing his legacy and left to honor, remember and talk story of him are his children
John (Jeanine) George (Suzy), Patrik (JoAnn) Loreene (David) Kanani, Annie (Alan) and Debbie (Dwain). Also telling his story are his Grandchildren Shea (Joe, Savannah, Victoria Thunder) Sharanna (Brayden, Riley), Kristina (Mick, Preston, Jack, Ella) Charles (Courtney, Gavin, Leila)
Craig (Jenny, Aiden, Jameson) Carl (Renata, Nico, Lucas) Mason and Marissa.
Also keeping the cribbage board ready is his good Friend Virgil Glover and the best dog in the whole world Pepper.
Mommy and Daddy are together again continuing their 63 year union and partnership. Still watching over all of us and guiding us in the right direction with their love.
A memorial service will be held at Wallin-Stucky Funeral Home in Oak Harbor on February 28th, 2022, at 1pm. A reception will follow at the funeral home immediately after the service.
A Hui Hou Kakou Daddy
Peace & Aloha
