Charles Frances Corbit
Charles Frances Corbit, of Surprise, AZ passed away on October 21, 2016. He was born December 20, 1946 in Bremerton, WA.
Charles (known as Chuck) is survived by his wife of 51 years, Grace McVeigh Corbit, at the family home in Surprise, AZ., son Terry, (Jocie) of Warrenton, Oregon; daughter, Michelle (Dan) of Surprise, Arizona; brothers, Melvin (Violet) of South Bend, Washington; Leonard (Judy) of Stagecoach, Nevada; eight grandchildren: Adrianna, Rachel, Jack, Brittany, Kara, Casey, Sean and Emily.
Chuck attended Langley High School where he met and married Grace. Their life was always an adventure. Chuck served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was very proud of his military service, he loved God, horses and this country. Chuck was always willing to try something new. He was a talented woodworker, making mostly toys for his grandchildren, and a licensed machinist. He worked many years in Dutch Harbor, Alaska; Kauai, Hawaii; Longview and Olympia, Washington. He loved caring for horses, he was always a cowboy at heart and his most enjoyable years were after he retired and got his horse. He and Grace enjoyed being together, traveling, being with their children and grandchildren and riding their horses. They did the John Wayne Pioneer “Ride Across Washington”, that involved riding and camping all across Washington State. Over the past few years, in both WA and AZ, they have been a part of several horse riding clubs
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is gone but his legacy lives on. Chuck will be interned at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix. At his wishes, no service will be held.
