Charlotte Rae Puls, 87, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008 at Columbia Lutheran Home in Seattle after a long battle from the effects of a serious stroke that she suffered eight years earlier.
Charlotte was one of four Flansburg siblings; Chet Flansburg, Gladys Gabelein and Mervin (Red) Flansburg. Born to Ralph and Bertha Flansburg in 1921, Charlotte spent her early life in Surprise, Neb., the family then moved to Granite Falls where she attended school and graduated from Granite Falls High School.
Charlotte met Keith Mahler while working in a downtown Seattle bank, they married in 1950 and had two children, a daughter Marilyn and son Keith. Charlotte was a wonderful caring mother and homemaker. After Charlotte and Keith divorced she worked in Lake City as a bank teller for several years.
In 1974 Char met Al Puls at a beach party on Mutiny Bay given by close friends. They married and never looked back. Char and Al lived on Mutiny Bay until a devastating fire destroyed their home. After the fire they moved to Maple Glen in Freeland and lived there ever since.
They spent many years very active in the Holmes Harbor Rod & Gun Club, of which Al was a past president, and Char was president of the Women’s Auxiliary.
Charlotte was laid to rest at Bayview Cemetery on Sunday, Sept. 14 with immediate family attending.
Char is survived by her sister Gladys Gabelein, her son Keith Mahler and his wife Mary, three grandchildren Kevin, Riley and Neva Mahler. Her daughter Marilyn and husband Vance Allers and grandson Dillon Rogers. Her stepdaughter Patricia Smith and two grandchildren Tom and Emily Smith.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holmes Harbor Rod & Gun Club scholarship fund.
