Dario de Jesus Gil-Osorio, born January 21, 1948, in Caldas, Colombia, passed away peacefully in Everett, WA, on September 13, 2024, after a courageous battle with dementia. A cherished brother, husband, father, and friend, Dario lived a life distinguished by his generosity, diligence, and boundless love, leaving behind a legacy that will forever inspire those who knew him.

From his early years in Colombia, Dario’s deep connection to the land and sea shaped his life. As a proud member of the Colombian Navy, he embarked on numerous adventures that eventually led him to the United States. His passion for the outdoors blossomed here, where he cultivated lush gardens brimming with trees, plants, fruits, and vegetables. Dario took immense pride in his bounty of harvests, which he generously donated to local food banks and community organizations, reflecting his enduring commitment to giving back.

Dario’s interests extended beyond gardening. He was an avid soccer enthusiast and cyclist, dedicating nearly a decade to fundraising rides for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. His commitment was remarkable; he consistently went the extra mile, adding 50 additional miles to the 150-mile MS Bike Tour, which raised even more funds for the organization, as well as participating in the 100-mile Tour de Whidbey. His initiative with the Whidbey Health Foundation, where he rallied support from friends, neighbors, and medical professionals, showcased his ability to mobilize resources to fundraise for a greater cause. Dario’s efforts demonstrated the profound impact one person can have on the lives of others.

Above all, Dario will be remembered for the depth of his love. His relationship with his wife, Martha, was a testament to unwavering devotion and warmth. Their bond was palpable in every interaction, and together they created a life rich with laughter, love, and cherished memories.

Dario is survived by his loving wife, Martha; his three daughters, Diana, Claudia, and Martha-Rocio; his beloved grandchildren; and his six siblings.

His legacy of integrity and compassion will continue to touch the lives of those who knew him. Dario’s spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who were graced by his generosity and kindness.
