Daune M. Olson passed away on May 8, 2022, following an extended illness and stay at Regency Coupeville. She was born in The Dalles, OR on May 21, 1942. Her father worked for the railroad, and after the war, the family moved to Bend, OR where Daune graduated from Bend Senior High in 1960.
Daune had a great desire to travel, which led her to live in Hawaii for several years before moving to Alaska. She worked in the foodservice world, where she delighted in making everyone’s meal a pleasant experience. Eventually, she left Alaska and moved to Whidbey Island, where she met and married Carl “Bud” Olson, a retired officer of the Merchant Marines. She made many friends as she volunteered at Good Cheer and delivered meals to seniors through Meals on Wheels. She loved playing golf at Useless Bay Golf Club, where she made many friends playing golf and enjoyed card games as well.
Daune was predeceased by her parents, Marceen and Leo Bailly, her brother Kerry Bailly, and niece Jill Galbreath. She is survived by her sister Cheri Bailly-Jacobs, and her newphews Jason (Jen) and Devin (Sarah) Bailly. The Bailly family will always be grateful to Daune’s family on the Island, Betty and Rob Galbreath, who provided support and care for Daune during her last years.
