Born in Seattle, Wash., Don graduated from Edmonds high school and the U of W.

He returned to Whidbey Island, Wash., in 1991 after living and working in Houston, Oklahoma, Portland and Tacoma.

He was married to his wife Janet for 59 years. He was father of Susan Henry, of Okla-homa City, Okla., Christine Byrd, of Burgas, N.C., and David Steadman, of Omaha, Neb. He was stepfather to Gretchen Johnsen, of Washington, D.C., and David Johnsen, of Omaha, Neb.

He was one of the original members of the Fishin’ Club and volunteered for many years at Community Thrift in Freeland, Wash.

He was living in an Alzheimer care facility before his death. There were no services.
