Eleanor Louise Roodzant Mann Olsen: June 11, 1939 – July 1, 2021

Eleanor Louise Roodzant Mann Olsen was born June 11, 1939 in Oak Harbor, Wash., to Henry and Marie Roodzant on the family farm, which is now Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. She grew up, went to school and lived most of her life in Oak Harbor. She passed on to her Father, the Lord Jesus Christ on July 1, 2021, at Skagit Valley Hospital at age 83. Her family was by her side.

She was preceded in death by her sister Viola Mae and her husband Don Mercer; brother Jack and his wife Janan Roodzant; and Josie Olsen. She is survived by her husband William Olsen; sisters Melody Roodzant Jones and Maryann and Ron James; eight children and stepchildren, Pennie Lee Cavender, Bobbie Randall (Randy) Mann, Jeffrey Raymond Mann, Cynthia (Cindy) Louise Wade-McBride, Rick Marshal Mann, Everett Olsen, Idella Olsen, Ebbe Olsen; 11 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Ellie, as she was known, could not stand to be away from her children and, as she loved all children, opened a daycare in her home so she would always be there for her own. She was very creative, loved cake decorating, interior design, was a wonderful seamstress and loved to play video games. One of her favorite places in the whole world was Deception Pass.

She has gone home now, to her beloved Jesus, but she will be deeply missed by all of us here, who loved her. It brings us such peace to know that one day, we will see her again in eternity, when at last we have finished our course and go home to be with the Lord.
