Gene Elaine Noltimier, 78, of Holmes Harbor, died Dec. 29, 2003, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born Jan. 5, 1925, in Seattle to Ruth and Myron Terwilliger. She was raised on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle and graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1942. She married Ross Noltimier in November 1945, and they lived on Magnolia Bluff for many years. During their 58-year marriage they also lived in Texas, Ohio and Teheran, Iran. For the past 12 years they have lived on Holmes Harbor near Greenbank.
She enjoyed traveling to many domestic and foreign places, including nearly every state in this country as well as Russia, China, India and many places in Europe and the Middle East. She also was an accomplished seamstress, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting for her children, grandchildren and anyone’s baby.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Linda Strout and David, Christine and Dan Crews, and Sandra and James Hyden; a son, Ross Jr. and Erika; four grandchildren, Louis and Leah Crews and Natasha and Ariel Noltimier; a brother, Gil Terwilliger; a sister, Diane Brewington; a niece; two nephews; and numerous cousins, primarily in Washington and Minnesota.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Langley United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or Island County Senior Services.
