Gerald (Gerry) F. Andrews
Gerald (Gerry) F. Andrews passed away Dec. 12, 2014, just shy of his 84th birthday. He was born in Seattle Jan. 17, 1932. Gerry grew up in Seattle. A graduate of Roosevelt High School and the University of Washington music department, Gerry joined the United States Air Force and played the trumpet in the Air Force Orchestra. He was stationed in Germany and performed with the band in a concert honoring the king and queen of Denmark. The concert, held at Tivoli Garden in Copenhagen, was where he met his wife, Kirsten D. Andrews. Gerry proposed after three dates, and, at the time of his passing, they had been married for 57 years.
Gerry loved music and dancing. He enjoyed travel, spending time with friends and loved delivering his loaves of homemade bread to them. Gerry and Kirsten worked together, played together, and they loved dancing together. One of his favorite things in his last year was listening to big band music and spending time with Kirsten.
A private celebration of Gerry’s life will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at Gerald’s home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the “Time Together Program,” in his name through Senior Services of Island County, attention Hestia Laitala, 14594 highway 525, Langley, WA 98260.
