The sweetest lady ever to grace the Isle of Whidbey went home to her heavenly Father and Lord on Dec. 5, 2007 when Helen Carper died peacefully at home 10 days beyond her 92nd birthday. She will be lovingly remembered by many dear family and friends.
Helen was born in Seattle on Nov. 25, 1915, and lived there until retiring from her job as file clerk supervisor at Blue Cross.
She moved with her husband to Freeland in 1977 and built a home across from Freeland Park.
Her pride and joy was their garden with abundant produce to share, and their yard, a showcase of flowers and plants in every season.
Helen is preceded in death by two husbands, Bill Harden, 1952; and Bill Carper, 1995; and survived by one son, Gary Harden, and his wife, Marilyn; four granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10 at Visser Funeral Home, 432 Third St., Langley. The service will be preceded by a viewing from 2 to 3 p.m.
Private interment will be at noon Tuesday, Dec. 11 at Washington Memorial Park, 16445 International Blvd., SeaTac.
