Jacqueline Dunlap Wentworth died at Careage of Whidbey, Coupeville, on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at the age of 75. Jackie was born Jan. 15, 1932, in New Westminster, B.C., to Claude and Rose (Dunlap) Huffman.

Jackie was raised in Victoria and attended Victoria High School. She moved to the United States with her family at age 18. In 1971, she became a naturalized citizen of the Uunited States.

Jackie worked for the King County Sheriff’s Office for many years in their Drug and Alcohol program. While working for King County, she met another counselor, Donald Wentworth, and on July 1, 1983, she and Don were married. She eventually left King County and began a career working as a caregiver at Fircrest School. She and Don purchased property in Freeland shortly after their marriage.

Jackie and Don loved to travel. They visited Europe three times, bought a travel trailer and visited the entire United States and much of Canada. They also made trips to Hawaii and Mexico. Jackie was a very skilled doll maker and loved to do embroidery work.

Jackie’s health began to fail and she and Don sold their beloved home and moved to Langley and a single story home. She eventually needed constant care and was transferred to Careage of Whidbey.

Jackie is survived by her husband Don at the family home and by four children: Kevin Walsh of Seattle; Eugene Walsh of Bellevue; Wendy Walsh of Everett and Patricia Gonzales of Anchorage, Alaska. Two children preceded her in death: Michael Walsh and Sean Walsh.

Memorial services for Jackie Wentworth will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at Community of Christ Church, 11507 Scott Road, Bow, with Elder Cleo Sargeant officiating.

Cremation was held with private family inurnment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
