James Clifford Price of Langley, Wash., died Sept. 14, 2013 as a result of complications from pneumonia. He was born in Fairbanks, Ala. Jan. 30, 1942 and grew up in Seattle, Wash. He is a graduate of Shoreline High School in Seattle, attended the University of Washington and received bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and education in 1966 from Western Washington University.
He entered the U.S. Air Force pilot training at Webb AFB, Big Spring Texas in 1966 and was commissioned at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. After numerous missions under extremely hazardous conditions during the Vietnam War, Jim was awarded four Air Medals of distinction.
He owned and operated Island Auto Supply in Freeland, Wash., for almost 40 years until his retirement in 2011. During this period of time Jim also competed successfully in aerobatic competitions nationwide. He will be long remembered for his love of flying and his skill as a pilot.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Virginia Price, and sister, Susie Buse. He is survived by his three sons: Jimmy, Jake and Jonathon Price; sister Kathie Trudelle and husband Paul Egly; sister Annie Bowen and husband, Michael; numerous nieces and nephews including Shannon Buse, Kevin Buse, Jennette Malsbury, Suzanne Thune, Ben Bowen, Greta Bowen and countless loyal friends.
