James W. “Jim” Evans, 83, of Freeland, died March 31, 2003, in Coupeville.

He was born Aug. 8, 1919, in Lebanon, Pa. He had been an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration.

He is survived by his wife, Jayne Evans, of Freeland; a daughter, Judy Kohler, of Gig Harbor; a son, Ken Evans, and his wife, Kathy, of Vancouver, Wash.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Langley United Methodist Church. Memorials can be made to The Seattle Mountaineers, 300 Third Ave. West, Seattle, WA 98119.
