Jason Robert Porter, passed away on March 16, 2023 at the age of 52. Jason was born in Mineral Wells, TX, on December 28, 1970 to Jim and Karrie Porter. He grew up on Whidbey Island and was a member of the SW Special Olympics team competing in Track and Field and Swimming events. He attended South Whidbey schools and graduated in 1990 from Woodway High School in Edmonds.
Jason enjoyed and took great pride in his job for 23 years as an Office Assistant for DSHS in Everett.
Jason loved volunteering and meeting people at the Island County Fair as well as attending other various fairs and festivals in the area enjoying the people, food, music and entertainment. He would always bring home some trinket or another tie-dye shirt for his collection. Jason always wanted to be where the party was and loved interacting with people. He always had a big smile, a great sense of humor and a sincere desire to learn about people and new things in general. If asked why he asked so many questions, his usual response was “it’s interesting to me.” He loved all things bright and flashy and would usually be seen wearing one of his tie dye shirts.
Jason is survived by his parents, Jim and Karrie, his brother, Ryan (Jessie), niece Isla and nephew Israel, Nancy Krall (Grandmother), Sue Lambro (Aunt), Jeffrey Krall (Uncle), Robyn Porter (Aunt), former wife Karin Andersen Porter (21 years). He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Vicky Towslee (2007), Grandfather Bob Porter (2008), Grandfather Donald Krall (2010), and Uncle Todd Krall (2019). Jason will be laid to rest at the Langley cemetery with immediate family attending. The family will hold a memorial later this spring to celebrate Jason. Donations may be made to Special Olympics or the Cancer Society. A huge thank you to WhidbeyHealth Hospice Care and their caregivers.
