John C. Stevens was born on March 16, 1928 to John and Carrie Stevens, who both immigrated from Norway. He was the last surviving sibling of John and Carrie’s 6 children. He and Marla, his wife of 70 years, lived in West Seattle; retired on Whidbey Island; and wintered in Surprise, Arizona. He graduated from Langley High School on Whidbey Island and obtained a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington. He worked at Boeing in the Space Program for 32 years.
John designed and built three homes, enjoyed traveling, loved boating, fishing, golf, and music. John will be remembered for his positive good nature, sense of humor, adventures he shared with family and friends, and his innate ability to make friends with all those he met. John is survived by his wife, Marla, his son, Randy, daughter, Wendy, five grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He will forever live in our hearts.
