Karen Sue Lewis

Karen Sue Lewis was born to Arthur S. and Helen (Hargrave) Price on Feb. 22, 1951, in Mount Vernon, and entered into rest on Jan. 13, 2007, with her loving husband Wayne at her side in Coupeville.

Karen married Wayne Lewis on July 16, 1969, in Redmond. Karen had many and varied interests including gardening, reading, crafts, painting, drawing and exotic parrots.

She worked for many years as a cook at David’s in Coupeville and other restaurants on the Island. Prior to her work in restaurants Karen also had a daycare center for many of the local families in the area, caring for many of the local youngsters.

Karen is survived by her loving family, husband and best friend of 37 years Wayne at the family home; parents Arthur and Helen Price of Lacey; children Stephen W. Lewis and his wife Julia of Clinton, Gretchen Marie Thorn and her husband Blake of Coupeville; seven grandchildren, Samantha Lewis of Big Lake, Paul Lewis, twins Helen and Morgan Lewis, all of Clinton, Kevin Thorn, Aaron Thorn, Megan Thorn all of Coupeville; sisters Heather Frazier and her husband Rick of Redmond, and Belinda Hogan of Lakewood (Tacoma); numerous nephews, and the many friends she made during her life who will also miss her dearly.

A celebration of Karen’s Life will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Living Hope Four-Square Church in Coupeville.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Karen’s name to Coupeville Library or to Whidbey Home Health Care in Coupeville. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Affordable Burial & Cremation Services of Mount Vernon. Cards of condolence may be mailed to the family in care of the funeral home.
