“Casey” Keith Cameron Brown Schultz, 21, a 12-year resident of Coupeville, died in Oak Harbor Jan. 10, 2004.
He was born in Coupeville on June 2, 1982, to Keith Cameron Brown and Tina Elizabeth Coupe Schultz. At age 4, he began traveling with his parents to the various duty stations at which his step-father was stationed. He returned to Coupeville in July 1997 and attended Coupeville High School. In-line skating was his passion. He was involved in the construction of the Oak Harbor Skate Park, and had competed in various state and national skating competitions. He was also active in sports, including football and basketball, and enjoyed drawing.
His first love was his family. He is survived by his mother, Tina E. Schultz and loving companion Autte B. Conrad of Greenbank; step-father Robert J. Schultz Jr. of Durham, Maine; his father and step-mother, Keith C. Brown and Catherine of Las Vegas, Nev.; four brothers, Dustin M. Brown, Robert J. “Bobby” Schultz III, Andrew T. Schultz and Hunter A. Conrad, all of Greenbank; sister Chelsea R. Conrad of Tujunga, Calif.; grandparents Tom and Mary Coupe of Greenbank, Susan Schultz of Boston, Mass., Susan and Glenn Brown of Coupeville, and Mary E. Roe of Zanesville, Ohio; numerous aunts and uncles, including the following: Teresa Coupe and Mark Carlin, Sally and Randy Jacobson, John and Nancy Coupe, Stacey Coupe, Jennifer and Jeff Richmond, Michael Schultz, Judy Schultz and David Schultz; Gail Hedberg, Monica and Michael Williams, Doug Brown, Greg Brown, Nancy and Galen Jensen and families; cousins Mary, Sarah and Daniel; Kyle, Ruby and Serene; Clover; Alissa and Cameron; Tyler, Katie, Sissy and J.J.; Damien and DeAndre; numerous dearly beloved extended family, including the Jacobson family; the love of his life, Nikki DeGryse of Whidbey Island; and devoted family friend, Kara Warder. Casey was preceded in death by a step-grandfather, Robert J. Schultz, Sr.
A funeral service was held Jan. 17, 2004. Memorials may be made in Casey’s name at any Whidbey Island Bank branch to a fund to build an indoor skating facility.
