Lani Hood

We lost a true angel as Lani Hood was suddenly called to heaven on Sept. 28, 2010.

She was born Sept. 27, 1954 to Gordon and Mildred Hood, formerly of Eugene, Ore.

Lani graduated from North Eugene High School in 1973. She attended the University of Portland and worked at many different jobs in the healthcare field. She also attended the Sisters of

St. Francis of Philadelphia in 1988-89, and found her calling as a chaplain.

She worked as a chaplain at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland and also served as a volunteer chaplain with the Portland Police Department. She retired in 1998 due to health issues and moved to Whidbey Island, which she dearly loved.

She was an active volunteer with many charities in the area and made many, many friends. You could often find her gardening, watching the birds, talking on the phone or spoiling her beloved cats.

She is survived by her adoring mother Mildred Hood of Seattle; sister Meri Boisen, husband Tony, of Seattle; beloved nephews Erik and Michael Boisen; and dearest friend in the world, Judy Kenning. Special heartfelt thanks to the care Lani received at Whidbey General Hospital and Swedish Hospital, Seattle for these many years.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 6 at

St. Hubert Catholic Church, Langley.
