Laurie Beth Mosolino

Laurie Beth Brozek Mosolino, daughter of Audrey and Girard Brozek, was born Aug. 26, 1954 in Alexandria, Minn. and enjoyed a wonderful childhood.

She attended the University of Minnesota, earning her master’s degree in 1981. She joined the Navy, traveled the world, and completed her general surgery residency in 1990. She met and married her husband, Joseph Mosolino, in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in 1991. They have the world’s three most remarkable children, Clay, Lily and Madeline.

The Mosolinos settled in Oak Harbor in 1997, where Laurie completed a very successful career both as a surgeon and military officer, retiring as a captain in October 2001. While Laurie’s primary focus remained her family, she made profound and lasting contributions to her community, touching the lives of many. Laurie, her family and friends traveled frequently and always with the intent to enjoy life to the fullest. Overall, kids, cooking, reading, gardening, homeschooling, entertaining, lots of animals and an overabundance of love filled her time.

Laurie died from metastatic breast cancer on March 10, 2009, and is survived by her husband, Joseph Mosolino; children, Clay, Lily and Madeline; mother, Audrey Brozek; sisters, Sandra Pegg and Deborah Wagner; and best friend, Dean Weldon.
