Lora Sherlock, 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep Feb. 7, 2013, after a long battle with dementia. Lora was born Dec. 3, 1926, in Inglewood, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elzie and Laura Duffey; husband, Peter Sherlock; son, John Sherlock; and her beloved cat Tillie. Lora was the youngest of seven children, all deceased.
Lora enjoyed living on Whidbey Island as a homemaker. She enjoyed baking, especially bread, and working outdoors in the garden. She was a member of St. Hubert Catholic Church and Altar Society until moving off the island. Lora will be remembered for her great sense of humor, beautiful smile, and a sparkle in her eyes.
Lora is survived by her children, Dolores Sherlock, Los Alamos, N.M., Patrick Sherlock (Loreta), Sekiu, Wash., Michael Sherlock (Patti), Seattle, and Joan Fridell (Wes), La Conner; her grandchildren, Jason Kemp, John Kemp (Jessica) and Justin Kemp, Miguel Sherlock (Marlena), Kalinin Tenneson (Justin), Ashley, Christopher, and Brittany Sherlock, Stephan Magney, Larisa Zontine (Aran), and Angela Davidson (Rick); and great-grandchildren, Dillon, Spencer, Weston and Ethan Kemp, Collin and Celeste Magney, Henry and Madeleine Zontine, Samantha and Alexander Davidson, and Halden Sherlock; and cousins Larry Campbell (Diane), Clinton, and Dean Campbell (Gloria), Langley; and numerous nieces and nephews in California; and her longtime friend of over 50 years, Verna Torfin & her family.
A memorial Mass will be offered at St. Hubert Catholic Church, Langley, on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 11 a.m. Remembrances may be made to St. Hubert Outreach, P.O. Box 388, Langley, WA 98260 or a charity of choice.
