Lorna Wilma Johnson
April 28, 1923 – Nov. 15, 2014
Lorna was born in Boise, Idaho, to parents Verner and Beatrice Dotson. She, along with her sister Doris, grew up in the Ravenna neighborhood of Seattle, where Lorna made many lifelong friends.
In January of 1946, she married Richard Johnson, who had just returned from the service in World War II. Dick and Lorna were married for 59 years, until his passing in 2005. Together they enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends at their cabin on Whidbey Island. Following Dick’s retirement, he built a beach home in Langley, where they shared great memories. Family, friends and playing bridge were Lorna’s passions.
Lorna was unconditionally loving, soft-spoken, stylish, strong, bright and a delight to be around. We will deeply miss her and look forward to the day when we see her again.
Lorna leaves behind a loving family: daughter, Nancy Opfer; son, Jay (Karen) Johnson; grandchildren, Melissa (Jeff) Sawatzky, Jenny Lee, Jayson (Angie) Johnson, Kurt (Christine) Johnson, Kale Johnson and Veronica Dyckes; great-grandchildren, Ethan Johnson, Nolan Sawatzky, and a baby girl on the way. She also has three special nieces and their families, Colleen Yoder, Arlene Laase and Connie (Charles) Marcucci.
The family would like to thank the staff at Weatherly Inn Memory Care for the loving care they gave to Lorna during her stay there.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Useless Bay Golf and Country Club, 5725 South Country Club Drive, Langley, WA 98260.
Remembrances may be made to the Union Gospel Mission or Northwest Harvest.
