Maggie Ezell

Maggie Ezell, 55, of Whidbey Island, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006 at her home on Whidbey Island.

She was born on Jan. 3, 1951 in Anacortes, the daughter of Frank and Sylvia Barcott.

Maggie lived in Anacortes most of her life. She worked full time at Cap Sante Marina. Maggie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Merry Makers, and she was active in the American Croation Club. She was a unique individual, loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her smile, humor and infectious laughter brightened every day.

Maggie’s life was dedicated to caring for and loving others. She was especially known and admired for cooking and catering in the area. Maggie catered weddings and other large events for many years, including most of St. Mary’s social functions. She was equally at ease with cooking and serving three people at home or a party of three hundred. She will be greatly missed. Maggie exhibited exceptional artistic ability. She worked with plants, sold many to businesses around the area and gave away many beautifully designed plants as gifts. She loved working with beads, designing necklaces and bracelets, and giving many away as specially loved gifts. While busy as a bee with her employment, catering business, and artistic pursuits, Maggie adored and spent much time with her very large immediate and extended family, the Barcott’s and Ezell’s. They all adored her.

Robert and Maggie were best friends, meeting at age 12 and continuing their friendship until they were married in 1993. They moved away from Anacortes for several years and lived in Oregon. Together, in their home, they raised six children.

They returned to Anacortes, purchased property on North Whidbey Island, and currently live above Cranberry Lake. Maggie was able to travel often with Robert, accompanying him on his business trips. Her children, husband, and all her family adored her.

Maggie was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Geer in 1980 and her brother, Robert Barcott in 2006.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert M. Ezell, IV; her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Missy Willoughby, Jason and Tiffany Willoughby, Scott and Kara Archer; her stepson, Robert M. Ezell, V; her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Brian Hanes; her stepdaughter and their husbands, Polly and Sam Adams, Betsy and Scott Bray; Anne Ezell, Judea Ezell, Deliah Russell; her parents, Frank and Sylvia Barcott; her siblings and their spouses, Mark and Julia Barcott, David Barcott, Frank and Dena Barcott, Kathy and Michael Stiller, Marylynne Barcott; her grandchildren, Travis, Monica, Gabrielle, Isabella, and Elizabeth Willoughby, Mia Willoughby, Michael Hanes, Samantha Archer; her uncles and aunts, Eddie and Eilene Barcott, Neil and Katherine Foss, Dominick and Fran Svornich, Mary McDonald; her 24 nieces and nephews on the Barcott side; and her special friends, Diana Chonka, Fran Svornich, Father William Harris, and Lori Sponholz.
