Our beloved mother, Margaret Shipley, passed away June 1, 2010, at 8:45 p.m. at Careage of Whidbey in Coupeville at the age of 91.

She is survived by her daughter Carol Shipley-Ashby, Coupeville; daughter Janet Lashua, Marysville; and son Gary Shipley, Arlington; four grandsons, Roland Ashby (wife Rhonda), Theodore Ashby (wife Melissa), Arne’ Lashua, and Kjell Lashua (wife Vera); two teenaged grandsons, Xyle Ashby, of Florida, and Skyler Ashby, of Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore, in 1993; and later by her younger brother Kenneth Blonden and his wife, Molly, who were very close to her.

Margaret was born in Lynden on July 19, 1918.

Her parents were Ruby and Frank Blonden, and she lived her earlier years in Bellingham, where she graduated from Whatcom High School. Margaret had spent many wonderful times at Birch Bay, where her grandparents owned a summer cabin near the beach.

She was a devoted wife and mother. Her family resided in Spokane when her children were in school.

There will be a family memorial gathering at her home in Coupeville on Sunday, June 13.
