Marilyn Visser

Marilyn Naomi Visser, 66, a former resident of Whidbey Island, died Dec. 9, 2003 in Roosevelt, Minn.

She was born April 25, 1937, in Willmar, Minn., to Rudolph Anderson and Astrid Dahlgren. She also had a stepmother, Teckla Anderson.

Mrs. Visser married Herman Visser on Aug. 8, 1959, in Seattle. She was an avid reader, an exceptional seamstress, and enjoyed gardening and her flowers. According to family, she enjoyed being a part of her grandchildren’s extracurricular activities.

She was an active member of Warroad Baptist Church in Warroad, Minn., and enjoyed being an active part of the missions programs of the church. For 32 years she and her husband owned and operated Visser Funeral Home in Langley. The couple sold the business and moved to Roosevelt on April 24, 1996.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother.

She is survived by her husband, Herman Visser; children Darla (Gerald) Hitner and Denise (Jon) Grussing, all of Roosevelt; grandchildren Davey and Jamie Forney of Roosevelt, Chad, Christapher and Clint Quibodeaux of Roosevelt, and Kyle, Ashley and Amy Hitner of Warroad, Minn.; a brother, Merrill Anderson, and his wife, Connie of Whitefish, Mont.; a niece, Mellete Anderson, of Bismarck, N.D.; nephews Mark and Marty Anderson of Whitefish; cousins Eileen Carlquist, Tassie Satterlie, Yvonne Holte and Buddy Anderson and his wife, Ruth, all of Alexandria, Minn.; and special friends John and Tamara Quibodeaux of Roosevelt.

Funeral services are at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 13, at Warroad Baptist Church, with burial at Silent City Cemetery, Roosevelt.
