Marjorie Kidney Cline Goldschmidt, 80, died Dec. 17, 2003, at Enso House, Freeland, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at St. Augustine in-the-Woods Episcopal Church, Freeland, with a reception following in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to St. Augustine’s Columbarium Fund or to Enso House, 6339 Wahl Road, Freeland, WA 98249.
She was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Los Angeles and spent her childhood and teen years in Hillsboro, Ore. She graduated from Pacific University, Forest Grove, Ore. She married Walter Cline, Ph.D., an anthropologist, and traveled to the Holy Land, North Africa and Europe and participated in various archaeological digs.
She was a dedicated and caring teacher who influenced the lives of her many students in Ashland, Ore., Ann Arbor, Mich., and Palos Verde, Calif. She moved to Whidbey island in 1998 and made many cherished friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Kidney and Marjorie Morse Dion; her first husband, Walter Cline; and a niece, Kathleen McCornack Guard.
She is survived by a sister, Dorothy McCornack, of Baton Rouge, La.; a niece, Kristy Keller, of Baton Rouge, La.; a great-nephew, Christopher Dufour, of Baton Rouge, La.; a great-great-nephew, Brennan Dufour, of Baton Rouge, La.; a great-niece, Maila Brook Guard, of Portland, Ore.; and friends Suzanne and Larry Dobrin of Whidbey Island.
