Michael Joseph Feit

Michael Joseph Feit passed away Feb. 13, 2006 in Coupeville. He was born April 20, 1949 a son of Joseph and Ann Feit in Fresno, Calif.

He entered school at Oakland, Calif. In his youth he was an avid tennis player, earning an All-Area Championship.

He graduated from high school and attended Merritt Jr. College, receiving an associtate’s degree in horticulture. During his early twenties, he was a member of the Oakland Blues Band.

Michael was employed with the city of Oakland Park Department ending he employment with them as a park supervisor in 1989.

He moved to Albany, Ore. and owned and operated the Front Street Inn until 1993.

In 1992 Michael met and married Linda Crawford Koford. In 1993 Michael and Linda returned to Linda’s childhood neighborhood on south Whidbey Island.

Shortly afterward, Michael was injured in a landscaping vehicular accident which resulted with permanent physical disability. This created major difficulties in Michael’s life.

In September of 2000, Michael returned to college with help from vocational rehabilitation. Michael pursued a major in human services. After a delay of seven months in 2004, due to colon cancer and complications, Michael proudly received his bachelor’s degree in human services in December 2005 from Western Washington University.

In January 2006, he began the pursuit of a master’s degree in vocational rehabilitation with a full scholarship at Western Washington University

Michael is survived by his wife, Linda Koford Feit of Freeland; mother, Ann C. Feit, and brother, James Feit both of Port Townsend; step-daughter and son in-law, Theresa Koford and Richard York of Eugene, Ore.; nephew, Aaron Feit of Miami, Fla.; aunts and uncles, Stephen and Pat Feit of Atlanta, Ga., Pete and Jeanie Clark of Spokane, Grace and James Clark of Castro Valley, Calif., William Clark of Reno, Nev., Janice Murdock of Concord, Calif.; and many cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20 at Maxwelton Christian Fellowship Church.

In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Good Cheer, Hearts and Hammers or Whidbey General MAC unit.
