Michael (“Mike”) Whitman of Oak Harbor, WA, passed away peacefully on Aug. 13th, 2022 at the age of 77. Born in Bremerton, WA, on July 13, 1945, Mike had a passion for life that touched countless friends and family throughout the years.
He was meticulous in planning European and Asian trips, including to his favorite Italian villas and castles in Germany; distilling his own Limoncello, cooking gourmet meals, designing incredible saltwater aquariums, inventing all manner of contraptions for crabbing, gold panning, even drying fruit. He was self-taught in so many endeavors and became an expert advisor to many. Mike loved the outdoors, camping, boating, fishing and crabbing; he had many great adventures with friends and family throughout the Pacific Northwest.
He is survived by his loving family : his wife Susan (Shikany) Whitman of Oak Harbor; daughter Anne, son Steven and his wife Susan (Ryder), his cherished grandson, Steven, and sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Fred Lundahl of Langley. He is also survived by many well-loved extended family members. The family requests that memorial gifts be designated to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center for the Long-term Follow-up Program fund.
