On May 13th, the Southend lost an influential Islander of 45 years when Mike Boyd, Langley architect and musician passed away after a brief illness. He was instrumental in designing many Southend commercial, non-profit, and residential projects. Upon moving here, he discovered he was one of the Island’s only bass players and on the weekend he could be heard playing country at The Legion, jazz at B-Street, rock at The Dog House, big band at Useless Bay, dixieland up in Oak Harbor, or classical at the Everett Symphony. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jill Miller, and their son, Hart Boyd. His inquisitive, talented, and positive personality will be greatly missed.
