Mildred Johnson Dilatush, 82, of Langley, died Aug. 31, 2003, at her home.
She was born March 27, 1921, in Bremerton. She and her parents moved to Langley in 1923 when she was 18 months old.
She graduated from Langley High School in 1938. She graduated from Washington State College — now Washington State University — in 1942, where she met her late husband, Stanley Dilatush.
She moved to Long Beach, Calif., in 1959, where she worked as a teacher. After retirement she moved to her summer home on the beach in Langley.
She was a life-long member of her college sorority, Delta Gamma Alpha, past Royal Matron of Amaranth, long-time member of Eastern Star, Daughter of the Nile, and past president and current secretary of the local Nydia Club. She was involved in local activities and with her brother hosted many halibut and salmon feeds to support local charities. She was an avid sports fan.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Stanley Dilatush.
She is survived by two daughters, Colleen Yoder of Long Beach, Calif., and Connie Marcucci and her husband, Charles, of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren Talia, Logan and Griffin of Portland; a brother, Richard Johnson and his wife, Lorna, of Langley, and their children, Jay Johnson and his wife, Karen, and their sons, Jayson, Kurtis and Kale of Seattle, and Nancy Johnson and her daughters Melissa and Jenny of Lake Stevens.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Langley Cemetery. It will be immediately followed by a gathering at the Langley Masonic Center on Bayview Road.
