Nancy Humphreys

Nancy Lloyd Humphreys was born January 13, 1934 in Johnson City, New York to Blanche and Lawrence Lloyd and passed away in her daughter’s arms at her Langley, Wash. home on May 15, 2013 at the age of 79.

She married her high school sweetheart, David Owen Humphreys, on November 25, 1955 and moved to San Jose, Calif. in 1957. Their son, David Lloyd, was born in 1958 and their daughter, Suzanne Emily, was born in 1961. Nancy worked as a secretary at FMC and an administrative support manager at IBM. They moved to Ketchikan, Alaska in 1980 where she worked as Clerk of Court for the Alaska Court System. She retired to Whidbey Island in 1988 where she was active in women’s Bible studies and retreats, Kiwanis, Guardian Ad Litem, Sheriff’s Citizen Patrol and volunteer manager of the South Precinct Sheriff’s office.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, David Owen, in 1990. She is survived by her brother, Robert (Kathie) Lloyd; son, David (Donna) Humphreys; daughter, Suzy (Don) Simmons; grandchildren Valerie (Taylor) Greene, Jared Hirshland, Amy (Chris) Ramsey, Emily (Ryan) Brotherton, Ben (Anne) Simmons and David W. Humphreys; great grandchildren Christian Humphreys, Shaun Greene, Evie Brotherton, Ella Brotherton, Brady Greene, Katherine Simmons and Jack Ramsey.

Nancy lived her Christian faith as a wonderful friend, a tireless volunteer and wise mentor to many. She loved playing card games, especially Bridge. She enjoyed music and attended many plays and musicals. She was a excellent cook and a gracious hostess, always thinking of others. She is gone but her legacy lives on.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 22nd 1:00 pm at The Island Church of Whidbey, 503 Cascade Avenue, Langley, Washington.
