Nancy Louise Vesque-Royds passed away peacefully in her sleep at Providence in Everett on Nov. 12, 2009, surrounded by her family. She was battling what proved to be a very short bout with cancer.
Nancy was born in Burbank, Calif. on Jan. 28, 1955. She spent her entire childhood in Southern California. She was a 1973 graduate of Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, Calif.
It was in California that she met her husband of 30 years, William (Bill) Royds. They lived together in Gardenia, Calif. for three years, where they had their first two children, Jennifer and Jason.
In 1982, they made the move to Mount Vernon, where they had their third child, Jacob, in 1986.
In 1989, the family made their way to Whidbey Island. Nancy began a job at PayLess Foods in 1990. She loved her job at PayLess, it was something she talked fondly of almost to her dying day.
Everyone who knew Nancy knew her love for baking and cooking. She got great joy from feeding all her family and children’s friends one of her amazing meals or treats. Another love many knew of her was her cats, Willyboy and Gizmo.
Nancy will forever be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, cleanliness and beautiful smile. She was always willing to take one of her children’s friends in and treat them like her own, and did, many, many times.
Nancy is survived by her husband Bill Royds; daughter Jennifer Ann Royds-Labadens, 30; Jason Richard Royds, 27; Jacob William Royds; 23; four grandchildren, Caitlyn Noelle, 9, Andrew Oliver, 5, Raegan Danielle, 2, and Dominic Charles, 3; son-in-law Daniel Eric Labadens and daughter-in-law April Rose Crain-Royds; her father Richard E. Vesque and his wife Gunda; brothers Robert Vesque, his wife Madlyn, and Gary Vesque; father-in-law Joseph Royds; sister-in-law Mary Royds-Fehskens; and brothers-in-law Ralph, Tom and Mike Royds.
She is preceded in death by her beloved mother Betty Louise Vesque, brother Richard Vesque and mother-in-law Anna Royds.
There are no words to explain how missed Nancy will be by those who knew her. She was an amazing, kind and loving mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt and friend.
