Patricia Van Kirk

Patricia Van Kirk, a dear and beloved friend, died unexpectedly March 23, 2005, at the age of 54 in Mazatlan, Mexico. She was born Nov. 26, 1950, in Philadelphia. She was a breast cancer survivor.

Patricia was an avid photographer, gardener and world traveler who had a tender appreciation for God’s creations. She blessed her loved ones with her insight, wisdom, passion for life and wonderful wit. She had a unique ability to see the beauty in the things and people around her and to draw all of us who knew her into her compassionate vision.

She valued diversity and was gifted at helping people see their own worth. She touched many lives through her work as director of Front Room Theater and Hidden Histories, and through her position at Metro Transit as a base chief.

Her family and friends will remember Patricia for her love, laughter, generosity, and wisdom and for the value she placed on friendships. She lives in every flower, sunset and magic moment.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy (Higgins) Van Kirk.

Patricia is survived by her life partner, Nikki Coyote; and a large family of friends who will miss her kindness and love deeply. She is also survived by her father, Joseph Van Kirk; eight treasured sisters and brothers; and 27 cherished nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Freeland Hall. A reception and time for sharing will follow. Memorial donations can be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the Women’s Funding Alliance in Seattle.
