Paula MacGeorge

Paula was born Sept. 5, 1929 in Seattle to Marguerite and Sylvan (Buzz) Paysse and passed away Nov. 14, 2011.

She attended Roosevelt High School and the University of Washington, where she met and married Thomas H. MacGeorge. Their marriage on Sept. 9, 1950 produced three children: Pamela, Stephen and William. Her family was everything to her. “There is nothing like a mother’s love!”

Her love of the outdoors began at a young age. She was an avid snow skier and early member of the Penguin Ski Club. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, traveling and even water skiing with her grandchildren on her 70th birthday.

Paula was affiliated with garden clubs, book clubs, investment clubs, the Sunset Club and Seattle Golf Club, where she was a past Ladies Captain. She also donated much time to charities.

Paula, an accomplished cook, enjoyed entertaining, was always welcoming, engaging and ever the gracious hostess. The last 21 years of her life were spent at the beach on Whidbey Island in a house that she helped design. With family and friends surrounding her, these were the happiest days of her life. She touched the lives of everyone she knew and will be dearly missed.

Paula, “Grammy,” as she is known by many, is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Thomas; their three children, Pamela M. Lee and her husband Jim of Everett, Dr. Stephen M. MacGeorge and his wife Lisa of Seattle and William S. MacGeorge and his wife Linda of Seattle. There are seven grandchildren: Jamie Lee, a student in Spokane; Dr. Christine Lee Cronin and her husband Brian of Spokane; Elle and Andrew MacGeorge of Seattle; 1st Lt. Christopher MacGeorge, currently stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky.; and Stuart and Nancy MacGeorge of Seattle. Cousins Sue Adams and her Southern California family, Holly Suminski and her New Jersey family; Gretchen McDevitt and family of Spokane; and brother in law Jim MacGeorge of California also survive her.

Paula lived to see the birth of her first great-grandchild Kellen Cronin of Spokane this past summer.

At her request, the family service will be private. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice and a celebration of Paula’s life is being planned for a future date.
