Roy Zillman

Dr. Roy Zillman, 74, passed away Feb. 8, 2005, at Providence Hospital in Everett as a result of a chronic heart condition.

Dr. Roy Zillman received his Ph.D. in political science at the University of California, Riverside. He had a long teaching career at Indiana State University.

He retired to Whidbey Island in 1997. He built a home where he entertained and enjoyed his remaining years with friends and his beloved dog, Titan. He developed one of the finest collections of exotic trees and rhododendrons on the island.

He was actively involved in environmental, political and community issues. His interests included design, woodworking and fine photography.

He was a strong supporter of the arts.

He leaves behind a brother, Rex Zillman; and his family, residents of Texas.

His close friend, retired law professor, Donald Wollett, stated, “the loss of such a passionate soul as Roy Zillman leaves a large hole.”

A private memorial service will be held March 13 at his home.
