Sandra “Sandy” Sue Wagster Nelson passed away peacefully Sunday, April 8. Her loving son Steven and sister Paula were with her at the time of her death.
Sandra was born May 26, 1947 in Longview, Texas and graduated in 1965 from Longview High School. Sandra moved to Langley in 1972 where she was employed as superintendent’s secretary and bookkeeper for South Whidbey School District. Sandra and James Nelson were married in Clinton in 1981 and moved to Marysville. In 1988, the family moved to Lake Stevens to a five-acre gentleman’s farm where she loved the land and animals.
She was a member of the Eastern Star. She and James were actively involved, raising suffolk sheep and helping their son Steven with FFA. She was a quilter and had a passion for the beauty of fabric, making many treasured quilts for her family. She also loved history.
She was preceded in death by husband James Nelson and daughter Sandra Railynn Kulig. Surviving are son Steven, sister Paula (Gary) Barnebey; nephews Tony (Joyce) Wagster, Kenny (Linda) Wagster, Kevin (Maryann) Wagster and many nieces and nephews as well as her loving pugs, Goldie and Angel.
Memorial services were held on Friday April 13, at Solie Funeral Home and Crematory, 3301 Colby Ave. in Everett with Tony Wagster officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in honor of Sandra to American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.
