Sarah Mae Staton, 78, passed away Jan. 9, 2009 at her home in Langley.
She was born July 12, 1930 in Quanah, Texas to George Washington Staton and Myrtle Mae Staton. Sarah moved to Exeter, California in 1937 and graduated from Exeter Union High School in 1949.
She received her RN license from San Joaquin General Hospital School of Nursing in Stockton, Calif. in 1953.
Sarah moved to Seattle in 1990, where she taught pre-school at The Little Anchor Child Care Center at the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration campus.
After retiring, Sarah moved to Whidbey Island in 1997. She became a member of the Langley Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
Sarah was a dedicated student of the bible and a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed gardening, genealogy, reading and spending time with her family.
Sarah is survived by her daughters Alisa Kathleen Rudloff of Oakland, Calif., Linda Karen Heslet (Joseph) of Redmond, and Aaron Otto Rudloff (Robin) of Snohomish. She is also survived by grandchildren, Christine Elizabeth Heslet and Michael Alexander Heslet.
She is also survived by brothers Pete Staton of Gresham, Ore. and Jack Staton of Gold Hill, Ore. and sister Bessie Kreger of Exeter, Calif.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents and brothers James, Thomas, George, David, Clifford, and sisters Mildred and Pearl.
A celebration of Sarah’s life will be held at the Langley Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 6th and Cascade, Langley, Wash. 98260 at 2 p.m. Jan. 21.
