1974-2012
Scotty Nielsen was our beloved son, brother, friend and father of Jack and Sophia. He passed away suddenly and tragically on September 22, 2012.
Born in Royal Oak, MI, Scotty lived many years in Lake Orion, MI and Westlake, OH before travelling around the U.S. and Europe. He married Emily and they had two children together. The family lived in Kentucky and New Mexico before settling on Whidbey Island.
Among other accomplishments, Scotty earned a degree in computer science and won an internship at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory. He owned a tree-trimming business, and designed and built custom stone walls, pathways and fountains. Loving, creative, musical, and comical, Scotty leaves a hole in our lives but lives on in our hearts.
A private memorial and celebration of life service was held at Wallin Funeral home on Saturday, September 29.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Jack & Sophia’s college fund at the “Jack and Sophia Nielsen Scholarship Fund” account at KeyBank. For more information e-mail megan_m_geiger@keybank.com
